In The Longest Road, Sasha Perelman weaves memory, migration, and medicine journeys into a deeply personal exploration of identity, survival, and healing.
After generations of anti-Semitism, Sasha Perelman's family fled the USSR in 1979 as religious refugees. Five years later, she was born—the first "American" child in her family. But with this privilege came the unshakable weight of inherited trauma, scarcity, and silence.
The Longest Road is a collection of stories that interlace Sasha's bold family dynamics, the immigrant experience, and her own healing journey. At its heart, this book is about reckoning with intergenerational trauma while choosing empathy, awareness, and forgiveness. Both tender and unflinching, this novel reveals how trauma echoes through time — and how, with courage, we can transform those echoes into something new.
